Estimating Sleep From a Smartphone Alone: A Validation Against Wearables on 105,826 Nights

Using only what a phone already records, with no location, microphone or wearable, a passive estimator placed sleep onset and wake within an hour of a consumer wearable on two nights in three, and a week's average sleep timing within 15 minutes. This paper shows which design choices produce that.
