Sahha vs Spike

Spike’s new owner announced a voice AI deal. Sahha’s business is health data.

Spike is a wearable data API with 17 provider connections, nutrition photo analysis, lab report extraction and EU data storage by default. In July 2026 it was acquired by Raintree, a rehab therapy EHR vendor, in a deal its announcement describes entirely in terms of agentic voice AI for the revenue cycle. Sahha includes every score, biomarker and archetype on every plan, keeps returning them when a user owns no wearable, and the API is the product its business is built on. The decision usually comes down to whether you need Spike’s nutrition and lab features, and how much continuity risk you can carry on a product the announcement does not mention.

Choose Sahha if

  • Your users include people who own no wearable
  • You want scores included rather than gated to Enterprise
  • You want a vendor whose core product is the health data API
  • Your procurement needs a SOC 2 Type II report

Choose Spike if

  • You need nutrition analysis from food photos
  • You need lab report extraction today
  • You need Fitbit, Polar, Withings or Omron by cloud
  • You need personal data stored in the EU by default
Coverage

Who each one can measure.

The share of your users each one can return sleep data for.

Sahha

82–97%

Smartphone ownership across surveyed markets. Sleep, activity and mental wellbeing compute from phone signal alone, and any device a user owns adds to it. The phone-only sleep estimate was validated against consumer wearables on 105,826 nights.

Spike

13–46%

Wearable ownership across surveyed markets. Spike reads data such as steps through Apple HealthKit, Health Connect and Samsung Health, and ingests sleep from providers and health stores. Its documentation describes no phone-only sleep estimate as of October 2026.

For a user with nothing to connect, that is an empty sleep profile on the day they sign up, which is the day activation is usually decided.

Output

What comes back on top of the data.

Spike returns normalised records, statistics and time series, and sells nutrition photo analysis and lab report extraction alongside them. Its own scores sit on the Enterprise plan only, and no behavioural archetype, tag or insight layer appears in its documentation as of October 2026. Sahha includes every score, biomarker, archetype, tag and insight on every plan.

Price

Included, or Enterprise.

Spike’s entry plan is a data plan. Its scores are on Enterprise only, at a price it does not publish. Sahha includes every output on every plan, including the free trial.

A team that needs scores Spike Sahha
Entry plan Sandbox, from $450/mo Starter, $299/mo annual, $399 monthly
Users included Not published 1,000, then $0.40 per user
Scores Enterprise only, custom price Included
Nutrition photo analysis Separate plan, from $450/mo Not offered
SLA Bespoke, on Enterprise Enterprise
Free trial None on the price page 30 days, 25 development users
Monthly list with scores Custom $299 annual, $399 monthly

Spike figures are from its published price list, which lists “Spike Analytics (proprietary Sleep, Stress and Activity Scores)” under Enterprise only.

Validation

What the scores are built on.

Spike’s price list names proprietary sleep, stress and activity scores on Enterprise, and its release notes record stress, recovery and activity score metrics being added in August and September 2025. Its 2025 launch post lists inputs for the sleep and stress scores, with no formulas, weights or validation data. As of October 2026 its metrics reference lists no score metrics, and its documentation has no methodology or validation page for any of them. That is an absence of a page, not proof that no method exists, so ask Spike for it if the scores matter to your decision.

Limitations

What Sahha does not do.

No nutrition photo analysis
Spike turns food photos and nutrition labels into calorie and nutrient data. Food scan is on Sahha’s roadmap, not in the product, so today you would need a separate vendor for it.
No lab report extraction yet
Spike extracts structured results from uploaded lab reports today. Lab reports are on Sahha’s roadmap.
Fewer direct cloud connections
Sahha connects server-side to Oura, WHOOP, Garmin, and Dexcom. Spike’s provider matrix lists 17 provider connections, including Fitbit, Polar, Withings, Omron, Huawei, Coros, Suunto, Ultrahuman and FreeStyle Libre. Anything outside Sahha’s list reaches it through Apple Health or Health Connect, which needs your app on the user’s phone.
EU storage is not the default
Spike stores personal data in Germany as standard. Sahha hosts in us-east-1 unless you opt into EU data residency in eu-central-1 (Frankfurt).
No EMR or EHR connectivity
Spike advertises connections to major EMR and EHR systems. Sahha does not connect to clinical record systems.
Switching

Moving from Spike to Sahha

None of this assumes Spike is going anywhere. Each step is cheaper while the API is healthy than it will be under a deadline.

  1. Spike live
    Sahha live
    new signups → Sahha
    No cutover date

Run both at once on the free trial

Build against Sahha’s sandbox on the 30-day free trial and point new signups at it while Spike keeps running. You are not switching, you are removing the scenario where you have to choose under notice.

  2. Sleep · last 30 days backfilled
    30d ago today
    Do this now

    Get your history out now

Spike’s backfill is off by default and capped per provider, so anything older than the window exists only in your copy or Spike’s. Its terms also say you lose the ability to export your content once your use is terminated or suspended, so export continuously rather than at the point you leave.

    Spike terms
  3. A

    Allow “your app”

    Sleep
    Activity
    Connect
    Once at most

Re-consent depends on who owns the connection

Spike’s documented connection flow runs provider sign-in through Spike’s own API, with no setting for your own provider credentials, so users connected that way approve once more, into accounts you own. Phone data is unaffected: Apple Health and Health Connect grant it to your app, not to the code inside it.

    Spike provider integration
  4. # one webhook consumer POST /sahha/webhook { "profileId": …, "scores": […] }
    Plan for it

    Remap, then re-baseline

Spike keys records to your own application user ID and uses plain, documented metric names, so remapping is mechanical. Its scores are computed differently from Sahha’s, so expect a visible step in any trend chart, or re-baseline at the switch.

    Spike metrics
Backfill windows are capped everywhere, Sahha included, so anything older than the window has to come from the copy you already hold. Export it before you close the account, whatever you decide after that.

FAQ

Sahha vs Spike, answered

Is Spike shutting down its wearables API?

No such announcement has been made. As of 9 October 2026 the API is live and for sale, and no sunset, deprecation or migration notice appears on Spike’s site or documentation. Do not treat a shutdown as announced, because it has not been.

Then why does the acquisition matter?

Because of what the announcement covers. Raintree’s 15 July release describes Spike as a developer of agentic voice AI and the deal as bringing that capability into its EMR’s revenue cycle, and Raintree’s TherapyCon announcement on 20 August covered the same agentic products. Neither mentions the wearables API, nutrition or lab products. A product outside an announcement depends on the new owner choosing to keep funding it, so ask who at Raintree owns the API and what roadmap they have committed to.

How much notice would I get?

Spike’s terms, as published, promise not less than sixty days’ notice in writing or email if it decides to stop offering a service (clause 16.10). The same terms also let Spike cease all or part of the service immediately on grounds it determines, including a substantial economic burden (16.5), and say you lose the ability to export your content once your use is terminated or suspended (16.9). Read those clauses together with your own agreement, and ask for longer continuity terms in writing.

Has Spike shipped anything since the acquisition?

Not in its public API release notes. The last entry is v3.5.48 on 16 April 2026, three months before the deal was announced, after 19 releases from 13 January. The pause predates the acquisition, so it is not evidence of a decision either way, but it has now run for 25 weeks.

Does Spike work for users who own no wearable?

Partly. Spike reads data such as steps through Apple HealthKit, Health Connect and Samsung Health, and ingests sleep from providers and health stores. Its documentation describes no phone-only sleep estimate as of October 2026. Sahha estimates sleep from the phone alone, validated against consumer wearables on 105,826 nights.

Is Spike more expensive than Sahha?

For scores, yes in practice. Spike’s entry plan starts at $450 a month and does not include its scores, which are on Enterprise only at a custom price. Sahha starts at $299 a month billed annually, or $399 monthly, for 1,000 users with every score, biomarker, archetype, tag and insight included. If you use Spike for nutrition photo analysis, that is a separate plan, and Sahha has no equivalent today.

What should I do this month if I’m on Spike?

Export your history continuously, starting now, because backfill windows cap what any successor can re-pull. Ask Spike in writing for a roadmap and continuity terms beyond sixty days. And run an alternative on new signups in parallel, so a notice period becomes a migration rather than an emergency.
