Sahha vs Thryve

Thryve is hosted in Germany. Sahha keeps working when a member owns no wearable.

Thryve is a Berlin wearable data API that hosts all data in Germany and names TK, AOK Plus and Sanitas among its insurer customers. Its analytics, on request above the entry tier, include individual risk estimates from sleep-related mortality to a binary depression flag. Sahha includes every score, biomarker and archetype on every plan, estimates sleep from the phone alone, and keeps its outputs behavioural rather than predicting disease. The decision usually comes down to where your data must live, how many members own a device, and whether your programme should produce individual risk estimates at all.

Choose Sahha if

  • Your members include people who own no wearable
  • You want scores and archetypes included, not quoted on request
  • You want outputs that describe behaviour, not disease risk
  • You want 30 days of history from the first connection

Choose Thryve if

  • Procurement requires a vendor developed and hosted in the EU
  • You need ISO 27001 or ISO 9001 specifically
  • You need Withings, Omron, Beurer or iHealth by cloud
  • You want individual sleep-related disease risk estimates
Coverage

Who each one can measure.

The share of your members each one can return sleep data for.

Sahha

82–97%

Smartphone ownership across surveyed markets. Sleep, activity and mental wellbeing compute from phone signal alone, and any device a member owns adds to it. The phone-only sleep estimate was validated against consumer wearables on 105,826 nights.

Thryve

13–46%

Wearable ownership across surveyed markets. Thryve reads phone-recorded data such as steps through Apple Health and Health Connect, but its sleep analytics run on sleep records from connected sources, and it documents no phone-only sleep estimate as of October 2026.

For a prevention programme, a member with nothing to connect still needs a baseline on the day they enrol.

Output

What comes back on top of the data.

Both compute analytics. The difference is what is included and what it describes. Thryve’s analytics documentation is organised into foundational analytics, health status assessments and health risk assessments, and its price list puts analytics on request from Scale Up, not on Start Up. No behavioural archetype layer or writable tag library is documented as of October 2026.

Included, or quoted.

Thryve publishes two self-serve tiers, keeps analytics off the entry tier and quotes them on request above it. Sahha includes every output on every plan, including the free trial.

Thryve’s Scale Up is a plan for companies less than 10 years since founding, so most insurers will be quoted Enterprise. Prices are in each vendor’s own currency and not converted, and Sahha’s optional EU hosting is priced separately. Thryve figures are from its published price list.

Validation

What the scores are built on.

Thryve’s documentation says its algorithms build on established clinical frameworks and peer-reviewed research, and that Thryve began as a Fraunhofer Institute spin-off. Its mental health risk score is described as validated in collaboration with FU Berlin, and its sleep-based risk model as built on large-scale epidemiological research. No study, DOI or sample size is linked from those pages as of October 2026. That is an absence of a link, not proof that no study exists, so ask Thryve for the FU Berlin paper if the score matters to your decision.

Sahha runs the same models on every deployment, and publishes the research underneath them with sample size, ethics approval and limitations stated.

Limitations

What Sahha does not do.

EU hosting is optional, not the default
Sahha hosts on AWS in us-east-1 unless you opt into EU data residency in eu-central-1 (Frankfurt), and its contracting entity, Sahha Pty Ltd, is Australian. Thryve is a German company that hosts everything in Germany.
No ISO 27001 or ISO 9001
Sahha holds a SOC 2 Type II attestation covering Security, Availability and Confidentiality. If your procurement names ISO specifically, Thryve holds both.
Fewer direct cloud connections
Sahha connects server-side to Oura, WHOOP, Garmin, and Dexcom. Thryve’s documentation names 18 cloud sources, one at end of life, including Withings, Omron, Beurer, iHealth, Polar and Suunto. Blood pressure monitors and smart scales reach Sahha only through Apple Health or Health Connect, which needs your app on the member’s phone.
No uptime SLA below Enterprise
Sahha’s SLA comes with custom contracting on Enterprise. Thryve lists an uptime SLA on every paid tier.
No individual disease or mortality risk estimates
By design. Sahha’s outputs describe behaviour, and its Customer Data Use Policy prohibits using them to underwrite, price to a member’s detriment, or decide eligibility. If your programme needs individual risk estimates, Sahha is the wrong choice.
No face-scan vitals
Thryve offers a 30-second camera scan through its partner Shen.ai. Sahha has no camera-based measurement.
Switching

Moving from Thryve to Sahha

Most of a move in this category is mechanical. Two parts are not, and for an insurer one of them touches members’ rewards.

  1. Thryve live
    Sahha live
    new signups → Sahha
    No cutover date

Run both at once on the free trial

Build against Sahha’s sandbox on the 30-day free trial without touching your Thryve deployment. The comparison worth having is your own members through both, and nothing requires switching anything off to get it.

  2. Sleep · last 30 days backfilled
    30d ago today
    One import

    Your history comes with you

Thryve keeps data for two weeks on Start Up and one month on Scale Up, so a production Thryve integration is already writing into your own systems. Sahha loads that copy back in through its data log endpoints, or through wearable-format endpoints that convert it for you.

  3. A

    Allow “your app”

    Sleep
    Activity
    Connect
    Once at most

Re-consent depends on who owns the connection

Thryve uses its own shared OAuth clients for most cloud sources, with your own credentials an option from Scale Up. Members connected through Thryve’s shared clients approve once more, into an account that is then yours. Connections under your own credentials carry over. Phone data is unaffected: Apple Health and Health Connect grant it to your app, not to the code inside it.

  4. # one webhook consumer POST /sahha/webhook { "profileId": …, "scores": […] }
    Plan for it

    Re-baseline scores and reward rules

Thryve’s sleep quality, physical activity index and other measures are computed differently from Sahha’s scores, so expect a visible step in any trend chart. If a live bonus programme pays out on Thryve thresholds, recalibrate those rules around each member’s own baseline and tell members before the switch.

Backfill windows are capped everywhere, Sahha included, so anything older than the window has to come from the copy you already hold. Export it from your current vendor before you close the account.

FAQ

Sahha vs Thryve, answered

Is Thryve the better choice for a European insurer?

For some, yes. Thryve is a German company that hosts all data in Germany, lists ISO 27001 and ISO 9001, and names TK, AOK Plus and Sanitas as insurer customers. If procurement requires a vendor developed and operated inside the EU, that settles it. If the requirement is EU-hosted data under GDPR processor terms, Sahha can meet it with optional EU data residency in eu-central-1, and the comparison moves to coverage, what is included and what the outputs may be used for.

Can Sahha host data in the EU?

Yes, optionally, in eu-central-1 (Frankfurt). The default is AWS us-east-1. AWS is the only third-party sub-processor of health data, and Sahha’s DPA carries the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum.

Does Thryve work for members who own no wearable?

Partly. Thryve reads phone-recorded data such as steps through Apple Health and Health Connect. Its sleep analytics run on sleep records from connected sources, and it documents no phone-only sleep estimate as of October 2026. Sahha estimates sleep from the phone alone, validated against consumer wearables on 105,826 nights.

Does Sahha return individual disease risk scores?

No, by design. Sahha measures behaviour: sleep, activity, recovery and mental wellbeing patterns. Its scores do not detect, diagnose, screen for or predict any medical condition, and the associations in its published research are population-level. Its Customer Data Use Policy prohibits using its outputs to underwrite, price to a member’s detriment, or decide eligibility. Thryve’s health risk assessment returns per-member risk estimates, so a programme that needs them should look there.

Is Thryve’s risk scoring validated?

Thryve describes its depression risk score as validated in collaboration with FU Berlin, and its sleep-based risk model as built on large-scale epidemiological research. No study, DOI or sample size is linked from those pages as of October 2026. That is an absence of a link rather than proof that none exists, so ask Thryve for the paper. Sahha publishes its research with sample size, ethics approval and limitations.

Can I run a rewards or bonus programme on Sahha?

Yes, if it is opt-in. Sahha’s Customer Data Use Policy permits rewards, discounts and cashback where members opt in with clear disclosure and lose nothing beyond the reward by declining or withdrawing. It does not permit outputs to be used to underwrite, price to a member’s detriment, or decide eligibility for cover. Baseline comparisons let rewards key to each member’s own progress rather than a fixed target.

Is Thryve more expensive than Sahha?

At 10,000 users with scores, Sahha Pro lists at $1,499 a month billed annually, or $1,999 monthly, with everything included. On Thryve’s published structure, Scale Up lists at €1,999 a month for 10,000 users with analytics on request and priced separately, and Scale Up is a plan for companies less than 10 years since founding. EU hosting is included with Thryve and optional with Sahha. Most insurers will be on Enterprise terms with either vendor, so ask both for a quote at your volume.

Can I move from Thryve to Sahha without members reconnecting?

It depends on who registered each provider connection. Thryve uses its own shared OAuth clients for most cloud sources, so members connected that way approve once more, into an account that is then yours. Where you already use your own credentials, available from Thryve’s Scale Up tier, those connections carry over. Phone permissions are unaffected, because Apple Health and Health Connect grant to your app rather than to the code inside it.
